What is a curandera?

A curandera is a traditional healer in Latin American cultures, particularly in Mexico. They use herbal ​medicine, spiritual rituals, and energy healing to address physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. ​Curanderas often draw on indigenous practices and beliefs, combining them with elements from other ​spiritual traditions. and a deep connection to nature and the elements. Their work encompasses a holistic ​approach to health, focusing on the interconnectedness of body, mind, spirit and nature.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Please reach out directly to buenafortunagardents@gmail.com. Express your interests and financial ​needs. Our hope is to make this accessible while also honoring the time and energy of our hosts and also ​running these magnificent gardens year round. If you also would like to sponsor an attendee please do ​reach out as well.

Accommodations& Transportation:

Flights go into San Jose del Cabo International Airport (SJD) . There is room for 8 to 10 individuals on the ​Buena Fortuna Gardens glamping tents and there are hotels with a wide variety nearby from the Four ​Seasons to more local accommodations nearby . If there is no longer room in the Gardens, we can rebate ​a small portion of the tuition. Transportation is provided to the Gardens. If you wish to stay in a hotel, you ​must coordinate transportation to and from BFG.

Why this retreat?

For many of us, we feel a deep connection to plants, the healing arts and have even attended Clinical ​Herbalism courses or work in these spaces. This is an opportunity to truly connect with 2,500 medicinal ​plants from around the world, hold space with traditional healers from our hemisphere and learn ​techniques for yourself, your community and workplace all while eating nourishing food from the land ​for a holistic connected experience.
